New Experiences

Well, I've never blogged before, so bear with me while I stumble through this.
Last December I had a booth at a craft fair at my church. It was the first time I'd ever done anything like that, and I sold some things that I had knitted. It was a lot of fun, and I wanted to do more, but I was 8 months pregnant at the time, so I decided to wait until I had more energy and wasn't so huge. :)
Flash forward to late March. My daughter is almost 3 months old, I'm finding a little bit of time to knit again, money is tight, and an invitation to the spring craft fair arrives in my email inbox. Now, I know I can't do it alone, because I can't supervise a booth and a 3-month-old by myself, and I can't knit enough to fill a booth before the fair, which is the first weekend in May. But I would love to have a booth, for the chance to get out of the house and interact with adults as much as for the extra money. So I decided to ask my twin sister Pam to help me out. She would make candy, I would knit, and we would share the profits. Stink Bug Candies, Crafts, and Curiosities was born.
The name comes from the nicknames of our daughters. Pam has three children, Mikey, Kerri, and Samantha. Samantha's nickname is Stinky Face. I have one daughter, Lydia, and her nickname is Bug. Put them together, and you have (hopefully) a unique name that will catch people's attention.
As of right now, we only have plans for this one craft fair. But our hopes are to do more fairs in the area, possibly take internet orders from this blog, and eventually, if we do well, set up an Etsy site (or something similar). I will be posting pictures of the items I made for the December craft fair soon, as well as some of the things I'm working on for this fair. When we have started on the candies, I will post them as well.
I don't know if anyone will actually read this, but I hope that if you did, you enjoyed learning a little bit about our beginnings, and hopefully things won't end here. :)
